Anime Expo Lite Panel: Join CEO of D'ART Shtajio, Arthell Isom and Director Henry Thurlow, as they discuss the steps needed to forge a successful career within the anime industry as a foreigner. Arthell Isom is a Background Artist, Director, Art Director, and first and foremost, the CEO of Tokyo based animation studio, D'ART Shtajio. Arthell has lived in Japan for 15 years and has spent his time extensively studying and/or working in the Japanese animation industry. Isom began his career as a background artist at Ogura Kobou, founded by the Art Director of “Ghost in the Shell” — and professional inspiration and since, has worked on a number of anime related shorts, feature films and everything in between. Arthell's journey to success has been intensive; challenging him to evolve and grow within his craft to inspire and lead others. HenryThurlow has had a fruitful career in the anime industry, working for some of Japan's most acclaimed animation studios, and has served as an in-between animator, layout artist, and key animator for several popular anime series. Henry started D'ART Shtajio alongside Arthell Isom, and Darnell Isom to push his artistic boundaries even further by working on projects that he feels inspired and challenged by. The East meets West panel is designed to help interested foreign artists avoid the pitfalls of the industry and help prepare them for what to expect culturally, artistically, and professionally.
